A Michigan woman will spend the rest of her life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering her boyfriend. But if it were up to the judge who sentenced her, she’d be getting the death penalty.

Back in 2014, a jury convicted Camia Gamet of first-degree murder in the stabbing and beating death of Marcel Hill, 38. She stabbed the victim 11 times with a filet knife, Above Science reported.

During her sentencing hearing, Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain told Gamet that the slaying was among the worst “cold-blooded murders” he has seen.

During that same sentencing hearing, while family members of the victim spoke out, the convicted killer smirked and rolled her eyes.

The ABC News video shows Judge McBain refusing to tolerate her behavior during the proceedings, threatening at one point to duct tape her mouth shut.

“You gutted him like a fish in that apartment,” McBain said at Gamet’s sentencing. “You were relentless. You stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed, you stabbed until he was dead. I agree with the family, I hope you die in prison as well. You know, if this was a death penalty state, you’d be getting the chair.”

Gamet pled not guilty during her trial, claiming she believed she was fighting an intruder in a darkened room and that the slaying was in self-defense.

A year after her sentencing the Oxygen channel featured Gamet on their crime series Snapped.

According to MLive, in February of this year, the Michigan Court of Appeals upheld Gamet’s first-degree murder conviction. She will continue serving her life sentence in prison.
