While on a trip in Brazil, a group of missionaries found themselves staring down the wrong end of the barrel of a gun.
According to KUTV2 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the two were standing on the side of the street in Brazil, when a motorcycle pulled up. The guy on the back of the motorcycle circled around the two Mormon missionaries, even pulling out a gun on the two of them. The larger of the two victims, grabbed the gun away from the attacker and tossed it over a fence. He then began punching and kicking the assailant, until he ran off.

Church spokesperson, Eric Hawkins for the Manaus Brazil Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had this to say regarding the matter:
“We are grateful that this incident did not end tragically, either for the missionaries or the other individuals involved. The guidance given to missionaries is to avoid conflict. Every situation is unique, and as adults, missionaries must make decisions about their safety. In this case, the assailant had a weapon and the missionary reacted in the moment to protect his life and that of his companion.”
It’s rather apparent this gun-toting thug picked the wrong guy to mess with. Maybe he’ll think about that next time he decides to pull some shenanigans.
