In the early days of MMA, it was a no holds barred sport where pretty much anything was allowed. Obviously that has changed, partly due to cleaning up the sport to bring it to the mainstream and partly for the safety of the fighters.

But what if it were to go back to the early days of the UFC, where headbutting was allowed and so were knees to the face while a fighter was on the ground? Rory MacDonald recently told the London Real a few things he’d like to see happen to make the sport better.
“The knees on the ground to the head, the kicks to the head on the ground. A lot of the elbows, headbutts, they’d have to be in it,” he said. “There were some crazy fights back in the day by Mark Coleman. He dominated. The fact that headbutts aren’t allowed, that’s a really crappy thing.”
From what it sounds like, MacDonald wants to fight in a sport — no-holds-barred fighting, that is — that’s banned in 36 of the states in the U.S. But hey, we guess they call him Canadian Psycho for a reason.
