Pre-game rituals and superstitions exist for pretty much every athlete in pretty much every sport, and it comes as no surprise that many of them are very adamant about these having an impact on their performance. Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander is no exception.
In an interview on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” Verlander’s fiancee, model Kate Upton, revealed that he won’t have sex with her before, or often even after, a game.
“Also what I’ve just found out is if he plays too well, there’s no sex after, either,” Upton said. “He’s too exhausted. Kind of a buzzkill for me.”
Seriously, Justin? We get it, you’ve got to been in peak game time condition, etcetera, etcetera. But there’s practically a million games in a baseball season. That’s a lot of days without sex. And it’s not like you’re turning down sex from any woman, but it’s Kate freakin’ Upton. You know, the one who just landed on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue for the third time?
Not to mention, this is the same woman that called out the Baseball Writers’ Association of America when Verlander was snubbed in the Cy Young voting.
