Anyone that says nothing good comes out of Detroit obviously hasn’t been fishing in the Detroit River anytime recently.
Kelby Spake and Joe Marquardt were fishing in the Detroit River just outside of the Renaissance Center this past week, when the two anglers caught this massive muskie. According to Fox 2 Detroit, Spake said the 48-inch fish weighed roughly 25 pounds.

“It was more of a fat fish than super long,” Spake said.
The two wrestled with the fish for about 45 minutes, before eventually hauling it into the boat. But neither men were surprised by their catch, because they’re familiar with what these waters have to offer.
“Detroit River system has some of the greatest freshwater fishing in the country,” Spake said. “There are a ton of big fish in there, but as early as we caught it in the season made it a little rare.”
Due to muskies currently being out of season, the men had to return the fish to the water, with hopes to reel in another equally impressive haul another day.
