Like most fast food restaurants, McDonald’s is constantly coming out with new products and promotions in an attempt to stay ahead of the curve. But this latest move from the land of the golden arches is just flat-out ridiculous.
In a recent Facebook Live stream, McDonald’s announced that it would be working with JACE and NK Labs, two aerospace and robotic engineering companies, to come out with a straw that can handle the dual layers of McDonald’s recently released Chocolate Shamrock Shake.
The Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal (stands for STRAW, get it?) has a special design that would allow customers to taste both the chocolate and mint flavors of the new shake without having to mix it up. Pretty groundbreaking, right? Seriously, how could we function as a society without this cleverly-backronymed invention?
But, like most bonkers and completely unnecessary promotions, the high-tech straw can’t be found at just any McDonald’s restaurant. They’re only giving out 2,000 straws at these select locations starting on February 24.
So if you’re not in the vicinity of any of these chains, we’re sorry we got your hopes up. We guess you’ll never truly get to experience the flavorful complexity of the Chocolate Shamrock Shake. What a tremendous letdown.
