The lovely folks at Dark Horse Comics, a daring, young go-getter—in the world of comic book companies, which still means they’re pretty old—have decided to give Mystery Science Theater 3000 its own comic series. As many of you might know, the legendary campy, cultish TV show was a show that mocked, spoofed, and satirized horrible, categorically panned B-movies—in the funniest ways possible.

Per The Daily Dot:

Dark Horse Comics announced the comic this week, and if you’re wondering how an MST3K comic would actually work, you’re not alone. The show mostly consists of mocking commentary for awful B-movies, a difficult concept to translate to the comic book medium.

According to Dark Horse’s announcement, the comic will follow the MST3K crew of the human host and his two robot sidekicks, aboard the Satellite of Love. So if you’re an MST3K fan who wants to see some more background canon, you’re in luck.

The new comic doesn’t have a release date yet, but it coincides with MST3K’s recent renaissance, with new episodes arriving on Netflix “in the not so distant future.”

This should be interesting to say the least. And while a ton of great movies, like Tank GirlThe MaskHellboy, and—sweet Jesus—Mystery Men [cue Smash Mouth’s “All Star—no, it wasn’t just in Shrek!] have come out of Dark Horse creations, I’m just a tad wary about this gem of a show finding its way from the pages of a comic book to the big screen.
