It’s hard to imagine that the Rocky movies, arguably some of the best boxing movies ever made, are 30 to 40 years old. And it’s even more difficult to believe that by now we haven’t seen all the images from those iconic films.
Thankfully, Sylvester Stallone is the type of guy that would never let those pieces of movie history fade away, and he recently shared some never-before-seen images from the movies on Instagram.

The 70-year-old actor, who’s always seemed indebted to his fans, even shared some of the stories behind the images. The photo below was supposed to be included in a scene from the opening montage in Rocky III. The image shows Sly teeing off on a real professional boxer, who had the unfortunate task of being Rocky’s punching bag that day. And as Stallone tells it, he felt bad after making things look all too real by landing this murderous flying right hook to the guy’s jaw.

Sly also posted this not-so-flattering shot of his face looking like a swollen pineapple after winning his rematch with Apollo Creed in Rocky II, right before wailing the famous and barely discernible line: “Yo, Adrian, I did it.”
