The 1999 blockbuster The Matrix could be getting a makeover, and early reaction to the news on social media has been less than favorable.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is in talks to do a reboot of the iconic science fiction hit, which redefined the genre and instantly became a cult classic for its unparalleled originality. Screenwriter Zak Penn, of The Avengers and X-Men: The Last Stand, is reportedly in talks to pen the screenplay and actor Michael B. Jordan (Creed) is one named being kicked around to star in it.

The Wachowski brothers, who wrote and directed the first three movies have no known involvement at this point, but a Matrix movie without the siblings is sure to be scoffed at by fans and their cult-like following.
