It was shades of the movie Animal House for a man in Iowa City who was arrested after he was spotted on the roof of a sorority house Monday evening.
Police said, much like John Belushi’s Bluto Blutarsky from that iconic comedy, Alexander Preissing, 19, was wandering around the Pi Beta Phi sorority house after 9 p.m. and was seen on the roof of the building. According to a criminal complaint, Preissing attempted to flee the scene when residents of the house called police and began taking video.
Preissing was then tackled on the front lawn of the house by a local resident, where the two briefly fought. Police said when they apprehended Preissing he smelled strongly of alcohol. He later explained he was “just being a drunk.”
Police said Preissing refused a breathalyzer test and was discovered carrying a fake I.D. He was charged with public intoxication, trespass, disorderly conduct and possession of a fake ID, all misdemeanors for which Preissing could face up to 30 days in jail.
