Sometimes when people are having a conversation about sausage, that’s all it is. The odds of this being the case skyrocket when said conversation happens at an Italian restaurant. But try telling that to Eddie Maldonado, and you’d have a pretty tough time making your case.

According to a report, Esteban Parra, Nancy Miranda and Maldonado, Miranda’s boyfriend, all work together in St. Augustine, Florida at a Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Maldonado walked up on Parra and Miranda having a conversation, which he deemed to be inappropriate. Apparently, the two were talking about sausage, but Maldonado assumed they were talking about a different kind of sausage, if you know what we mean.

Parra informed police that Maldonado accused him of having a “sexual conversation with his girlfriend and started yelling at him.”

The manager took the group outside to get to the bottom of things, but that’s when things went from bad to worse. Maldonado said his piece, but when it was Parra’s turn to speak, Maldonado just started choking. Then, as Parra started to walk away, Maldonado grabbed him and began choking him from behind. He only loosened his death grip on Parra’s neck when the manager bit him.

Maldonado was arrested for battery, but that was upgraded to a felony charge due to Maldonado’s rap sheet. His prior crimes include an arrest for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, to which he subsequently pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct and was sentenced to probation and ordered to attend anger management classes.

Maldonado has been ordered to have no contact with Parra and is currently free on $500 bond.
