Imagine business being so good, that you need to expand less than a week after the grand opening of your new facility. That’s the reality for the Bulleit whiskey distillery in Shelby County, Kentucky, just east of Louisville.

The new facility recently began producing bourbon, with the capacity to produce 1.8 million gallons of bourbon and rye whiskey each year. But, it’s not nearly enough to sustain the double-digit growth of the business, with a 29-percent increase just within the past year. The $115 million distillery will serve as the main production facility for the company’s Kentucky straight bourbon as well as their 10-year bourbon.
“We’re already exploring expansion opportunities,” said Deidre Mahlan, president of Diageo North America, the parent company to Bulleit.
The company is celebrating 30 years of business under its founder, Tom Bulleit, who uses his family’s recipe from the 1800’s. Apparently his family knew what they were doing. Because annual double-digit growth, is pretty damn good by any standards.
