Today, in crazy haircut news, there are people out there who are letting barbers cut their hair with an ax and hammer. Because apparently boring old scissors just aren’t…cutting it these days.

According to Men’s Health, this is a practice that dates back to the 1930s and 1940s, when ax salesmen would demonstrate their products by shaving an unsuspecting bystander. They would pick a logger out of the crowd and give them a shave in front of prospective buyers of their goods. The more you know.
