Scarlett Johansson gives the 1996 Japanese animation hit Ghost in the Shell a live action update later this month, and from the looks of the first few trailers, we’ve got a new action star on our hands.

She’s no stranger to the genre, having starred in a couple Avengers and Captain America movies, but this time out, Johansson turns the ass-kicking up a notch and does it all by her lonesome, definitely putting her on par with the kind of femme fatale stuff we’ve seen from Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie.

Paramount’s big budget adaptation also promises a breathtaking live rendering of the animated urban landscapes and robotic characters of the original, which means a whole lot of coin was spent on special effects.

You can check out the first five minutes of the film in this recently released extended clip and judge for yourself if it might be worth your ten bucks. We say yes.
